Emotions that change with the wind

Sometimes calm

The architectural installation runs the entire length of the ruins of Villa Epecuén and connects to the lake to the south. The aim is to ensure the integrity of the experience, and from the very beginning the building has not been severely corroded by salt water, and people can still see some life. But as people went deeper and deeper, the ruins became more and more lifeless, and the signs of corrosion became more and more obvious. Until the end, the audience walks to the place where it meets the lake, faces the calm lake, and experiences an emotional transition from vitality to desolation, and finally gains a trace of inner peace and tranquility.

Site Plan

At the end of this sensory experience, we set up a mirror room to extend the sense of scale of this silent emotion

All the thanks to Kris

Sometimes dancing wildly

When Kris and I started thinking about emotions, our first thought was that emotions are diverse, and every emotion is irreproducible. Therefore, we want to describe this process of emotional change from a third-party perspective.

The fabric inspires us a lot, and the tulle fluttering in the wind is intangible, dynamic, and dreamy!Between the ruins of Villa Epecuén, these tulles dance in the wind, like a flow of emotions, sometimes gentle, sometimes frenzied, capturing and amplifying the unique emotional atmosphere of the place. Through this design, we hope that the audience can feel the richness and change of emotions in this desolation, and experience a subtle emotional journey from the past to the future.

About Site

Located in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Villa Epecuén is a unique place. It was once a thriving tourist destination, attracting countless tourists with the highly salinity waters of Lake Epecuén. However, a rare storm in 1985 caused the lake to burst through the levee, flooding the entire town and forcing residents to evacuate. Today, as the water recedes, Villa Epecuén reappears, but is in desolate ruins. Every ruin of this place is quietly telling the glory and tragedy of the past, and has become a witness to historical changes.
